The Blessing of Forgiveness

Todd Tomasella: If we do not forgive, we ARE NOT forgiven. According to Jesus, eternal hell awaits all who die without forgiving all others from their heart – regardless of their previous relationship with the LORD (Matt. 18:21-35; Mk. 11:25-26, etc.).
“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Mark 11:25-26

To bring a reality check, all one need do is take an honest moment to recall all the evil thoughts, words, and actions which he himself has committed in the eyes of a holy God. As we need mercy, Jesus commanded us to show mercy. Dish it out liberally friend!
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32
God showed you and I the greatest mercy when He sent His only begotten Son to bleed, be buried, and be raised again – all while we were yet in sin (Romans 5:6-9). He bought our redemption with His own blood and requires that we render mercy to others as He has shown to us.
“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7
On forgiveness, Jeff Camino writes:
“’Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.’ (Romans 8:34) So, who is he that condemns past sins that have been confessed, forgiven, and have stopped? Only Satan and people working on his behalf would do this.”
“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” Romans 8:34
David L. Brown writes:
“God said, ‘Leave those who have slipped or fallen alone, they are His servants, not ours, He will deal with them.’ A pretty good indication for me to keep my big mouth shut. God is fixing to step in and straighten some messes out.”
Gone Too Far?
Have you gone too far into sin that God cannot and will not find, forgive, and restore you to Himself?
Reasoning According to what the LORD told Us in His Word
To the one who thinks he/she has gone too far or beyond God’s forgiveness….
I would like you to ask your own heart, based on God’s Word, the following questions:
  • What sin have you ever committed this is greater than the infinite, wonder working power of Christ’s blood? 1 Peter 1:18-19
  • Are you committing idolatry by elevating your sin above the blood of His cross?
  • Do you have “faith in his blood” or do you despise His blood with your unbelief which is based in pride? Romans 3:25
  • Before and at the moment of Him saving you, were you worthy to be saved and forgiven? If not, why do you think you are now somehow worthy of His forgiveness in and of yourself? Psalms 39:5; Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:21-26
  • Are more works the answer? Romans 4:4-5
  • Just what is the great exchange that happened at the cross where God gave His innocent Son for the guilty? Romans 3-5
  • What did Jesus come to do? Matthew 1:21; Luke 4:18 9:56; John 1:29; 3:17; 1 Timothy 1:15
  • What does Lamentation 3:19-22 say?
  • What kind of throne did God set up for His people to come confidently to? – judgment or grace? Hebrews 4:14-16
  • What does God do when His people confess their sins? 1 John 1:9; 2:1-2
  • Was David forgiven?
  • Was Peter forgiven after he sinned then repented?
  • What instructions are we given in Philippians 3:13-14
  • What did the LORD say He is “ready” to do? Psalms 86:5, 15
  • What is God “plenteous” in? Psalms 86:5, 15
How is it that you think you are seeking God and answers from God’s Word if He’s not the One drawing you? (John 3:27; 6:44) Are you doing this because of your own goodness? Isn’t that quite prideful, arrogant, and conceited?
God bless you to know Him yet more and more precious saint as you make the deliberate decision to obey Christ by believing what God gave us in His Word. What does 1 John 1:9 say? Learn it. Memorize it. Live it. Walk in it.
